Hapless Toronto FC downed by 10-man New York Red Bulls

The house of red cards has crumbled for Toronto FC as the Reds dropped a 3-0 result to the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena on Saturday on the back of a record-breaking first-half hat trick by Bradley Wright-Phillips.

The Reds suffered another blow in the form of an adductor injury to star forward Sebastian Giovinco, who managed only 22 minutes of action before exiting the match.

Wright-Phillips took all of 27 minutes to find the back of the net three times. The Red Bulls maintained that scoreline despite dropping down to 10 men following a Gonzalo Veron red card.

Toronto FC had a chance to cut the lead to two goals from the penalty spot, with Will Johnson scoring on his first attempt, but the referee disallowed the goal due to encroachment from Mo Babouli. Johnson's second attempt was saved by Luis Robles.
