John McEnroe is joining Milos Raonic's coaching staff as a consultant with the Canadian gearing up for Wimbledon.

"So I just wanna consult, be part of this team, add a little bit if I can and help on his quest on the grass," McEnroe announced Friday. "Milos has a great team with Ricardo Piatti and Carlos Moya. I'm going to be a consultant on the grass. I'm excited."

Raonic's game, built around big serves and an ability to attack the net, is ideal for a tournament like Wimbledon. The 25-year-old has flirted with major success in recent years, reaching the semifinals at Wimbledon in 2014 and the Australian Open earlier this year.

Grand Slam tournaments have been owned for the most part by Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic over the past decade, but McEnroe believes Raonic has the talent to challenge the top players in the sport.

"Milos Raonic can win majors," McEnroe added. "He's one of five or six guys that can win Wimbledon. I'm excited to be part of his team."

McEnroe won seven majors as a player, including three Wimbledon titles. Since then the 57-year-old has become well-known for his voice in the broadcast booth.
