Kyrgios cries 'bias' after getting code violation for barking at ball boy

It didn't take long for Nick Kyrgios to become embroiled in drama at Roland Garros.

In the first set of his first-round French Open match Sunday, the tempestuous top-ranked Aussie got into it with chair umpire Carlos Ramos after receiving a code violation that Kyrgios insisted was the product of "unbelievable bias" on Ramos' part.

Kyrgios received the violation during his first-set tiebreaker against 124th-ranked Italian Marco Cecchinato after yelling for a towel from the ball boy in a manner that Ramos deemed unsportsmanlike.

"The crowd's too loud for him to hear me," Kyrgios explained to an unmoved Ramos.

"That's f--king bulls--t," the 21-year-old fumed.

"A code violation for saying towel loud? Now I've really seen it all."

Kyrgios also suggested that Ramos' alleged bias is part of an overarching double standard in tennis.

"When Djokovic pushes an umpire that's alright?" he said, referring to the world No. 1's dust-up with Carlos Bernardes over a disputed ball mark earlier this month in Rome.

"I say towel out loud and I get a code."

Kyrgios has invited no shortage of discipline on himself during his young career, with everything from excessive racket abuse to profane outbursts to mic'd up digs at his opponent's girlfriend. In this case, it seems, Ramos may indeed have been a bit quick on the trigger.

It didn't deter Kyrgios in the end. The world No. 17 had a bit more trouble than he anticipated, but ultimately dispatched Cecchinato in straight sets, 7-6 (6), 7-6 (6), 6-4.
