The Denver Broncos are one of a "small handful" of teams that have reached out to free-agent running back Arian Foster, according to Bleacher Report's Cecil Lammey, citing multiple sources.

Foster is believed to be recovering well from a torn Achilles suffered last season. He'll likely be able to pass a physical in the next few weeks, at which time, his market and value will become clearer, reports CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora.

The Broncos would be a natural fit for Foster. The 29-year-old would link back up with his former head coach with the Houston Texans, Gary Kubiak, who runs the zone scheme that Foster has excelled in during his career.

Foster would also not be asked to be the Broncos' lead back, with C.J. Anderson, Ronnie Hillman, and rookie Devontae Booker on the roster.
