Lowry left for locker room before half to 'decompress'
Another game in the Eastern Conference finals, another poor performance from Toronto Raptors All-Star Kyle Lowry.
In a blowout loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night in Game 2 at Quicken Loans Arena, Lowry was once again a non-factor on both ends of the floor, finishing with almost as many personal fouls and turnovers (9) as he did points (10) in 33 minutes of action.
In fact, during the final moments of the opening half, the point guard was seen heading to the locker room, as Cleveland was in the midst of a 16-2 run to close out the second quarter.
When asked after the game for the reasoning behind his departure, Lowry acknowledged that he needed to be alone to gather his thoughts and take a deep breath.
"I needed to decompress, reconfigure myself," Lowry told The Vertical's Shams Charania. "Get back to the grind."
While his numbers certainly hint at him being physically and emotionally drained against a dominant Cavaliers defense, Lowry believes he still has a lot of basketball left in him as the series heads to Toronto for Games 3 and 4.
"I'm super confident," Lowry said. "I missed countless 3s that I thought were good that I made last series. That's why I'm not down on myself on that. Listen, we've got a game on Saturday and I know I'm going to be much more effective on Saturday. Simple as that."
Lowry is converting a ghastly 28.6 percent of his field goals and 6.7 percent of his 3-pointers over the last two games for just nine points in 32.4 minutes.
