Auston Matthews' audition to be selected first overall is going very well.
The American forward took a pass from Boston Bruins center Frank Vatrano, went to the backhand and scored an impressive goal to tie Thursday's quarterfinal between the United States and the Czech Republic at the World Championship.
Matthews leads the U.S. with four goals at the tournament and his seven assists are tied for the team lead with Detroit Red Wings forward Dylan Larkin.
