Report: Bears working on contract extension with Willie Young
The Chicago Bears are engaged in contract talks with linebacker Willie Young regarding a two-year extension, multiple sources told Jason Cole of Bleacher Report.
It's a somewhat surprising development, as Young reportedly asked to be traded at the end of last season because he wanted to be back in a 4-3 scheme.
The three-year, $9-million deal Young signed with the Bears in 2014 will end after this season and, after a 6.5-sack down year, the franchise could be looking to lock in the former Detroit Lions draft pick at a discount.
Since coming to the Bears, Young has flourished, producing 16 sacks, 70 tackles, and an interception in two seasons.
If the NC State product turns in a double-digit sack season in 2016, he would likely price himself out of the Bears' plans.
