It's never a bad time to hit your third home run of the game, but Danny Valencia's timing Sunday couldn't be any better.

With his Oakland Athletics trailing 6-5 in the ninth, Valencia smacked a two-run shot off Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Steve Geltz, giving the Athletics a 7-6 lead and eventual win.

Valencia's first two home runs, in the first and fifth innings, both came off southpaw starter Matt Moore.

But, with his family in rare attendance, the Athletics' bench had a hunch Valencia wasn't done as he stepped up to the plate in the ninth.

"The feeling in our dugout was, he's hitting another one," backstop Stephen Vogt told MLB.com's Jane Lee.

Prior to Sunday's tilt, Valencia was batting .322/.370/.495 against lefties, while hitting only .241/.278/.390 against right-handers throughout his career.

The Athletics' infielder now sits at five home runs on the year.
