New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees' $30-million cap hit is the biggest in the league for the 2016 season, nearly $7 million more than the next largest figure.

Because of the enormity of the hit and the Saints' cap struggles, the two parties were expected to agree to a contract extension in order to reduce the number.

However, they haven't agreed on a new deal, and Brees' agent Tom Condon said Wednesday during an appearance on "The Rich Eisen Show" that the Saints appear comfortable with the current cap hit.

"At one point, New Orleans wanted to talk about a cap re-do, and Drew was more than happy to do that," Condon said, according to Joel A. Erickson of the New Orleans Advocate. "There were some intervening situations that occurred, so they didn't need the cap room, and they seem to be satisfied with carrying that number right now."

Brees said in late April that he wants a new deal, but is also prepared to play out the final year of his contract and resume negotiations with the Saints after the season.
