Report: Italy to call up Borini, Mannone for pre-Euro 2016 camp

Sunderland striker Fabio Borini and goalkeeper Vito Mannone are expected to take part in Italy's training camp ahead of Euro 2016, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.

Borini and Mannone have reportedly done enough in recent weeks to figure into Italy's pre-tournament plans.

Coach Antonio Conte will call up a selection of players for training next week, excluding those featuring in domestic cup finals with AC Milan, Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain, Manchester United, and Anderlecht. The official squad for Euro 2016 will be decided the following week on May 23.

The inclusion of Borini and Mannone is surprising nonetheless. The former has made just one senior appearance for the Azzurri - in a 2012 friendly against the United States - while the latter has never been capped.

But both have emerged as protagonists in Sunderland's race against relegation. Mannone's produced several saves to give the Black Cats a fighting chance in recent weeks, while Borini has scored twice in the past four Premier League matches.

The two could secure Sunderland's safety with a win later Tuesday evening against Everton.
