Watch: Toni coolly converts Panenka in farewell match vs. Juventus
Juventus
Luca Toni is going out in style.
The 38-year-old Italian striker declared that Sunday's match against Juventus would be the last of his career, and when the opportunity arrived to take a penalty toward the end of the first half, he didn't hesitate to pick up the ball.
He didn't settle for a simple spot-kick, instead executing a flawless Panenka to give Hellas Verona a half-time lead over the five-time defending Serie A champion.
It's his first goal in 603 minutes of play and just his sixth of the season. Toni has struggled with muscular injuries over the course of a bitter campaign in which Verona failed to secure another season in the top flight. Last year, he was the league's joint-top scorer with 22 strikes to his name.
