Report: Vogel a target for Grizzlies with Joerger out
The Memphis Grizzlies plan to pursue Frank Vogel as head coach in the wake of Dave Joerger's dismissal, according to The Vertical's Adrian Wojnarowski.
Vogel was terminated by the Indiana Pacers on Thursday. The Grizzlies are willing to pay top dollar for Joerger's replacement, reports Wojnarowski. Joerger compiled a solid 147-99 record in three seasons as coach in Memphis but was reportedly unhappy with his salary and frequently butted heads with team management and ownership.

At first glance, Vogel is a natural fit for the Grizzlies, known as a player's coach with a defensive pedigree and an impressive track record in Indiana. However, the team plans a wider search that will also consider up-and-coming assistants as candidates, according to ESPN's Zach Lowe.
Vogel oversaw the Pacers to a 250-181 record in five-plus seasons, reaching the Eastern Conference Finals twice and coaching in an All-Star Game.
