4-star QB Tate Martell decommits from Texas A&M

Kevin Sumlin's struggles to keep quarterbacks at Texas A&M continued Wednesday, as four-star recruit Tate Martell announced he's decommitting from the program.

"After talking with my family about what is best for my future, I have decided to reopen my recruiting process," Martell wrote on Twitter.

Martell marks the third quarterback the program has lost since December, when former top recruits Kyle Allen and Kyler Murray both announced they would be transferring. Allen ended up at Houston, while Murray eventually transferred to Oklahoma.

The 5-foot-11, 203-pound Martell is ranked by ESPN as the third-best dual-threat quarterback in the 2017 class, and the 73rd prospect in the country.

The Las Vegas native's decision could have a huge impact on the Aggies, as 2016 projected starter Trevor Knight graduates after the upcoming season.

Martell received offers from over 20 FBS programs prior to his commitment to Texas A&M, and the news will likely bring about a new wave of interest from major schools throughout the country.
