Report: Lions sign Andre Caldwell to 1-year deal

Kirby Lee / USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Lions have signed wide receiver Andre Caldwell to a one-year contract, a source told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Caldwell has spent the past four seasons with the Denver Broncos. He made 10 catches for 72 yards and two touchdowns through 14 games in the 2015 season and had three catches for 36 yards in the playoffs.

The 31-year-old has split his eight-year career equally among the Broncos and Cincinnati Bengals, where he enjoyed his best seasons between 2009 and 2011.

Caldwell is the third receiver the Lions added in free agency. He joins Marvin Jones and Jeremy Kerley as the newest member of the Lions' receiving core.

He will compete with Kerley, T.J. Jones, and Corey Fuller for playing time off the bench.
