The Green Bay Packers declined their fifth-year option on defensive end Datone Jones, according to ESPN's Rob Demovsky.

Jones recorded 20 tackles, three pass deflections, and three sacks in 15 games last season.

Green Bay selected him 26th overall out of UCLA in the 2013 NFL Draft.

Jones occasionally lined up at outside linebacker, and will need to make a larger impact on the defense if the team is to extend his contract past the 2016 season.

The former first-round pick will battle against Josh Boyd and Dean Lowry for a spot in the starting lineup, in a season that will surely determine his long-term fate with the Packers.
