Enzo Amore suffers concussion in tag team match at WWE 'Payback'

WWE Network

Sometimes it's difficult to blur the lines between what's real and what's scripted in the world of professional wrestling. On Sunday night at WWE "Payback," though, a very real incident occurred resulting in a very real injury to superstar Enzo Amore during the opening bout on the card.

In a tag team match to determine the No. 1 contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championship, the duo of Amore and Big Cass took on The Vaudevillians of Aiden English and Simon Gotch.

As Gotch presumably attempted to toss Amore out of the ring, Amore's head and neck violently snapped back after connecting with the middle rope.

As he fell to the mat below, the official presiding over the bout threw up the "X" sign to call for a medical team. The match was then officially ended.

He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was diagnosed with a concussion. All tests came back negative.
