Former Duke safety Jeremy Cash signed with the Carolina Panthers after going undrafted, the player confirmed Saturday.

Upon signing his contract, Cash said he'd contribute to relief efforts aiding those affected by the recent floods in Houston.

Cash was considered by some to the best player to go undrafted in the 2016 class, having been projected by many prognosticators to go in the second round.

In his final season at Duke, Cash captured ACC Defensive Player of the Year honors, recording 57 tackles and 2.5 sacks.

The Panthers lack depth at safety outside of Kurt Coleman and Tre Boston, and Cash could compete for a spot in the rotation. Carolina selected cornerbacks James Bradberry, Daryl Worley, and Zack Sanchez with its picks in Rounds 2, 3, and 5.
