Report: Ravens passed on Tunsil after bong video leak
The Baltimore Ravens planned to take Laremy Tunsil with the sixth-overall pick in Thursday's first round, but changed their minds following the leak of the bong video on Twitter, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter.
Tunsil ranked atop virtually everyone's draft board at the tackle position, but the damning video was enough to sway the Ravens into picking Ronnie Stanley from Notre Dame.
The Ole Miss standout would eventually fall to the Miami Dolphins with the 13th pick, a move that cost him $7 million, according to Schefter.
A team official alerted owner Steve Bisciotti and Ozzie Newsome of the video just minutes before the draft, and the club decided to pass on the troubled tackle. Newsome disclosed Thursday that the video certainly played a role in drafting Stanley.
While Tunsil comes with some excess baggage, the drop to the 13th spot represents a great value pick for the Dolphins, and he could anchor the offensive line in South Beach for years to come.
