Lee doesn't want to work under 'hot tempered' Pardew at Crystal Palace

Chung-Yong Lee doesn't expect to represent Crystal Palace next season, and has criticised manager Alan Pardew as having a "short-term vision" and not being able to count his substitutes.

Lee was brought to Selhurst Park by the Wimbledon native in February 2015, but is now exploring his options with two years left on his deal.

"I have a contract with Crystal Palace until 2018 but I don't have any reason to stay here next season," said Lee, who previously turned out for Bolton Wanderers.

"I think I should try to talk to other clubs. If I had enough opportunities and had disappointed here, I would not make any excuses. But I never had opportunities."

Lee said he was encouraged to join Pardew's squad after the manager told him he wanted him during his Newcastle United tenure. Since then, the successes of Jason Puncheon, Yannick Bolasie, and Wilfried Zaha bursting forward from midfield have limited his opportunities, leaving the South Korean critical of Pardew's rotation policy.

"Pardew runs the team with very short-term vision," Lee continued. "We have a great squad but he plays the same players again and again until someone gets injured. Then his replacement cannot play well because he is playing for the first time in two months. I think that's why we have not done well in the latter half of season."

The 27-year-old spared some kind words for how Pardew conducts training, but said he's too fiery when he mans the technical area and struggles with numbers when on matchday duties.

"Pardew is very smart in training but he's too hot tempered in matches, so he even forgets how many substitutes are left," said Lee.

"He told me to warm up, then we used all three substitutes, so I sat on the bench again. Five minutes later, he told me to warm up again so I told him there were no substitutes left. He just said: 'Oh, sorry.'

"Pardew also made me train as a starter for the whole week and decided to leave me out on matchday as an injured player who had not trained all week recovered and felt okay on the day. That was absurd."

The Eagles travel to Pardew's former club Newcastle on Saturday, although it remains to be seen if Lee will be included in the squad in light of these comments.
