Report: Alabama assistant leaving due to potential recruiting violations

John David Mercer / USA TODAY Sports

Alabama defensive line coach Bo Davis is expected to depart the program because of an inquiry into possible recruiting violations, Aaron Suttles and Andrew Bone of The Tuscaloosa News report.

Alabama has reportedly been conducting an internal investigation into Davis' practices, and the NCAA has also inquired into the matter.

Davis is in his second go-around with the Crimson Tide, serving as the team's defensive line coach since 2014. He previously held the same post working alongside Nick Saban from 2007-10.

Davis has helped Alabama develop plenty of studs along the defensive line over the years, including Terrence Cody, Marcell Dareus, A'Shawn Robinson, Jarran Reed, and Jonathan Allen.

He's been extremely popular with players and recruits, and has played a significant role in bringing supremely talented linemen to Tuscaloosa.

Davis is under contract with Alabama through the 2017 campaign.
