The Tampa Bay Lightning and Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League announced a six-year affiliation extension on Thursday.

The deal will see the Lightning's prospects continue to develop with the AHL organization through the 2021-22 season.

"We are pleased to be extending our affiliation with the Syracuse Crunch," Lightning general manager Steve Yzerman said in a statement. "The Crunch and Howard Dolgon, along with the city of Syracuse and Onondaga County, have been, and continue to be, an excellent place to develop our prospects. We look forward to what will hopefully be many successful years to come on and off the ice."

A total of 14 players on the club's current NHL roster - including Jonathan Drouin, Tyler Johnson, and Nikita Kucherov - have had stints with the Crunch, as well as head coach Jon Cooper.
