Report: Florida A&M grad transfer Malcolm Bernard commits to Richmond

Amber Searls-USA TODAY Sports

Richmond is getting some immediate help on the offensive end for next season, as Florida A&M graduate transfer Malcolm Bernard told ESPN's Jeff Goodman he's committed to the Spiders.

The 6-foot-5 guard enjoyed a very successful season with the Rattlers in 2015-16, averaging 14.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. He also chipped in with 4.3 assists and 2.3 steals, leading the team in all four categories.

Bernard will immediately strengthen a Richmond team that is already returning three of its top four scorers. The Spiders struggled to a 16-16 record in 2015-16, but with a senior-laden team adding the offensive firepower of Bernard, look for them to contend for the Atlantic-10 crown next season.
