McGregor's coach: 'Was fun while it lasted'

Conor McGregor sent the Internet ablaze Tuesday by appearing to announce his retirement on Twitter, and now his coach at SBG Ireland, John Kavanagh, has added fuel to the flames.
Kavanagh sent out a tweet that appeared to reference the end of McGregor's career:
Well was fun while it lasted
— Coach Kavanagh (@John_Kavanagh) April 19, 2016
McGregor's tweet is reportedly not a joke, however his reasoning for sending it is still uncertain.
Many are speculating that it could be a negotiating tactic to earn more money for his superfight with Nate Diaz at UFC 200, or that the recent death of an MMA fighter after a bout - which McGregor was in attendance for - could have caused the Irishman to walk away.
However, at present, McGregor's true intentions remain a mystery.
