Danny Simpson says Leicester can cope without star striker Vardy
Leicester City defender Danny Simpson says his team won't struggle to secure results down the final stretch of the 2015-16 Premier League campaign despite star striker Jamie Vardy potentially being suspended for the next two games.
The English striker was charged with improper conduct by the FA following his outburst against referee Jon Moss, who gave Vardy a red card for simulation in Leicester's eventual 2-2 draw against West Ham.
It means Vardy will be unavailable for Leicester's next match against Swansea City, and possibly against Manchester United in the following week. But Simpson has faith he and his teammates can continue to pick up points.
"Vardy has been one of the best players in the league,'' Simpson said, according to ESPN FC. "Other players have scored in the team and before last week Vardy hadn't scored for five or six games, so we'll deal with it.
"We've got other players who can come in. Just look at the game - Jeff (Schlupp) came on and won us a penalty and Leo (Ulloa) came on and scored. Dema (Demarai Gray) has come on in the last few weeks and showed for a young lad his maturity and he's an attacking threat. So I'm sure we'll cope with it well.''
Leicester sits top of the table five points clear of Tottenham with four remaining matches this season.
