Giovinco scores fastest goal in club history as Toronto FC defeats D.C. United
Toronto FC forward Sebastian Giovinco needed but one minute on the field at RFK Stadium to find the back of the net, as the D.C. United back four crumbled under the slightest of pressure applied by Jozy Altidore in the box.
The U.S. striker pushed slowly toward goal before slipping a slow-moving cross into the middle, and, inexplicably, the D.C. back four failed to clear, allowing the Atomic Ant a sniff at goal.
His 58-second strike is the fastest goal in club history, surpassing Reggie Lambe's 1 minute, 50 second strike back in the 2012 Amway Canadian Championship.
That's really all it takes for the Italian, and Giovinco put the Reds up 1-0 just one minute into the match, a scoreline the team collectively held through the remaining 89 minutes to secure a win and all three points away from home.
