True freshman Shane Buechele might be well on his way to winning the toughest job in the state of Texas - quarterback for the Texas Longhorns.

Buechele took a majority of the snaps over senior signal-caller Tyrone Swoopes in the Longhorns' spring game.

Buechele went 22-of-41 for 299 yards and two touchdowns, while Swoopes went 4-for-16 for 71 yards and two interceptions.

Head coach Charlie Strong was impressed with the Lone Star State native.

"Shane had a really good day," Strong said. "Tyrone's had his days, he didn't today."

After missing out on Andrew Luck and Johnny Manziel, Longhorn fans might finally have a star under center.
