Ohio State sets national spring-game attendance record with 100,189 fans

Mike Granse-USA TODAY Sports

Don't tell Ohio State fans it's only a spring game.

Buckeye supporters filled a sold-out Ohio Stadium on Saturday for an exhibition game in April, and the attendance figure of 100,189 the school announced broke its own record from last year (99,391 spectators) and set a new national mark.

Although the game has some value as far as the depth chart goes, it's arguably nothing more than a glorified scrimmage.

The school was hoping to break the record and scheduled several halftime events involving former Buckeyes, including Bobby Carpenter, Jack Mewhort, Cardale Jones, Von Bell, and Ezekiel Elliott.

Suffice to say, people in Columbus take their football very seriously.
