The Dallas Mavericks are riding high off a thrilling Game 2 road upset of the Oklahoma City Thunder, but storm clouds may be on the horizon.

Dirk Nowitzki is currently listed as day to day, after an MRI on Tuesday revealed a bone bruise in his right knee, Mavs coach Rick Carlisle told reporters.

"We hope that this is not something that's going to cause him to miss any time," Carlisle said.

Nowitzki suffered the injury in the first half of Monday's win, but nevertheless went on to play 38 minutes and score 17 points. The teams have two days off, with the series shifting back to Dallas for Game 3 on Thursday night.

Nowitzki will turn 38 in June, but his body has held up well this season. He played in 75 games and averaged 31.5 minutes - two more than he did last year, and five more than Carlisle had planned to give him going into the season. He also led the Mavs in scoring with 18.3 points per game. In the first two games of the series with the Thunder, he's averaged a team-leading 17.5.

The Mavs are also dealing with day-to-day injuries to J.J. Barea (groin), David Lee (foot), and Deron Williams (sports hernia), having already lost Chandler Parsons for the rest of the season.
