Here are theScore's shortstop value rankings for Thursday, April 14:

Value Rankings
C | 1B/DH | 2B | SS | 3B | OF | SP

Top Options

Name Opponent Value
Brandon Crawford (SF) at COL 9
Corey Seager (LAD) vs. ARI 8
Freddy Galvis (PHI) vs. SD 8
Trevor Story (COL) vs. SF 8

While Crawford doesn't have the pedigree of Seager, Story or Correa, he comes at a discount and will benefit from Coors Field. Galvis is a great cost-effective option due to his tremendous career splits against left-handed pitching. Story is still an option at home, despite his high salary.

Mid-Tier Targets

Name Opponent Value
Carlos Correa (HOU) vs. KC 7
Aledmys Diaz (STL) vs. MIL 7
Francisco Lindor (CLE) at TB 6
Eduardo Escobar (MIN) vs. CWS 6
Jose Iglesias (DET) at PIT 6

Diaz has worked into regular playing time for the Cardinals, and he entered Wednesday with at least one hit in every game. He continues to represent great value. Lindor squares off against one of Thursday's top pitchers in Rays RHP Chris Archer, but he deserves consideration after hitting his first home run of the season Tuesday, in Tropicana Field.

Name Opponent Value
Addison Russell (CHC) vs. CIN 5
Ryan Goins (TOR) vs. NYY 5
Didi Gregorius (NYY) at TOR 5
Jean Segura (ARI) at LAD 5
J.J. Hardy (BAL) at TEX 5

Segura has had a miraculous start to his season, but his .419 ISO will soon begin to rapidly regress. Hardy showed a flash of his former power with a two home run game Tuesday.

Name Opponent Value
Starlin Castro (NYY) at TOR 4
Eugenio Suarez (CIN) at CHC 4
Jonathan Villar (MIL) at STL 4
Alexei Ramirez (SD) at PHI 4
Erick Aybar (ATL) at WAS 4
Troy Tulowitzki (TOR) vs. NYY 4

Suarez went hit-less Tuesday, after hitting home runs in back-to-back games previously. His price has skyrocketed accordingly, bur he's still worth consideration in tournament play.

Nothing to See Here

Name Opponent Value
Elvis Andrus (TEX) vs. BAL 2
Ian Desmond (TEX) vs. BAL 2
Chris Owings (ARI) at LAD 2
Alcides Escobar (KC) at HOU 2
Jimmy Rollins (CWS) at MIN 1

Escobar's high price represents the most danger in this group. He doesn't possess nearly enough power to consistently return value at his current salary.
