Oilers sign Providence goalie Nick Ellis to 2-year deal

The Edmonton Oilers are dipping into the college ranks to bolster their goaltending.
The Oilers signed Providence netminder Nick Ellis to a two-year, entry-level contract Thursday night.
Ellis went 25-7-4 with a 1.80 GAA, a .936 save percentage and four shutouts in 36 games with the Friars this season, posting a career mark of 30-9-5 with a 1.90 GAA, a .931 save percentage and five shutouts in 48 contests.
