Stacks of the Day - Go Big or Go Bargain

Here are the top stacks for Thursday, April 7. Please note that the 12:35 EST game between Philadelphia and Cincinnati is omitted.

Baltimore Orioles (vs. Twins)

Baltimore's lineup is filled with intriguing hitters - a few of which will run a high price tag. Manny Machado, Chris Davis, and Adam Jones are the most notable. But in a matchup against Phil Hughes, who gave up 29 homers last year, Baltimore power hitters are a must-stack.

With Camden Yards being a hitter-friendly ballpark, especially to left-handers, Davis and new Oriole Pedro Alvarez are worth investing in if you're looking at fully loading up. Mark Trumbo, another new addition, can complete a five-player stack and looks tempting since starting the season 4-of-8.

3-player stack: Machado, Davis, Trumbo

5-player stack: Machado, Jones, Davis, Trumbo, Alvarez

Chicago Cubs, (at Diamondbacks)

Arizona starting pitcher Rubby De La Rosa surrendered the second-most homers in baseball last year (32). That stat should create immediate intrigue towards the flourishing Chicago Cubs lineup. The icing on the cake is the fact that this game takes place in Arizona's extremely hitter friendly Chase Field.

The one caveat for going Chicago-heavy is the price tag. Top options like Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, and Kyle Schwarber will cost you. Because of this, DFS players should limit them to a 'stars-and-scrubs' tournament lineup.

Considering the strength of Chicago's lineup there are quite a few complementary players or substitutes if you wish to stray from the aforementioned core. Dexter Fowler, Jason Heyward, Ben Zobrist, Addison Russell, and Miguel Montero are all options.

3-player stack: Rizzo, Schwarber, Bryant

5-player stack: Fowler, Rizzo, Bryant, Zobrist, Russell

Oakland Athletics (vs. White Sox)

In classic Oakland-like fashion, the Athletics themselves offer a bargain stacking option for DFS players looking to maximize value.

The appeal for the Athletics is their matchup against Mat Latos, who has weak career numbers for March and April with career highs in opponent batting average, OBP, SLG, and an awful HR/9 of 1.31.

A three-player Oakland stack could be used effectively in cash games if they are able to exploit Latos, while a five-player stack should be reserved for tournament play as the individual talent in Oakland's lineup is admittedly thin.

3-player stack: Jed Lowrie, Danny Valencia, Khris Davis

5-player stack: Lowrie, Josh Reddick, Valencia, Davis, Billy Butler
