Greg Jennings pushing for Vikings to bring him back

Greg Jennings spent two seasons in Minnesota before signing with the Miami Dolphins in 2015, and is itching to return.

Rather than waiting around wondering if the Vikings would call, the free-agent wide receiver took matters into his own hands and dialed up general manager Rick Spielman.

"I left Rick a voicemail," Jennings told KFAN on Wednesday morning. "I told (them), I'm waiting on you guys.

"I miss being (in Minnesota). You appreciate something more when it's taken away from you."

Jennings made five starts in his lone season with the Dolphins, catching 19 passes for a career-low 208 yards and one touchdown. He was released on March 5 in a cost-cutting move.

"It was a humbling year," Jennings admitted. "This is what I desire. I desire to be home with my family. The only way I'm home with my family is if the Vikings pick up the phone and call me."

In addition to being closer to his family, the 32-year-old also believes he could fill a necessary role in Minnesota.

"I know what Teddy (Bridgewater) missed," Jennings said. "Sometimes you take for granted the veteran guys in the locker room ... when I look at the Vikings I see a young team. A team of guys with great leadership on the defensive side of the ball specifically. In a wide receiver room, where's the veteran? Where's the leadership? Where's the accountability?"
