Georgia's Roquan Smith undergoes wrist surgery, will miss spring practice

Kim Klement-USA TODAY Sports

If Georgia's Roquan Smith is going to be the starting linebacker next fall for the Bulldogs, he'll have to do it without the benefit of spring practice.

The freshman had wrist surgery in January to repair ligament damage he suffered in the TaxSlayer Bowl against Penn State and will miss spring practices as a result. Though it's not a serious injury, the Georgia medical staff is being cautious with his recovery.

The Montezuma, Ga., native played in 12 games last season, recording 20 tackles.

Smith was a four-star recruit and one of the highest rated in the Bulldogs' 2015 incoming class.
