Former Texas A&M offensive coordinator Jake Spavital is expected to be named in the same role at Cal, according to Sports Illustrated's Thayer Evans.

The 30-year-old agreed to mutually part ways with the Aggies last month. He would replace Tony Franklin, who resigned last month to take the same job at Middle Tennessee State.

Spavital has served as Texas A&M's offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the past two seasons.

He would also be given a tall task, given the Golden Bears are losing senior quarterback Jared Goff, who is expected to enter the 2016 NFL Draft.
