Report: Arizona State's Lindsey given raise after turning down Southern Miss

Mark J. Rebilas / USA TODAY

Arizona State will give Chip Lindsey a $100,000 increase in base salary after the offensive coordinator decided not to pursue the head coaching vacancy at Southern Miss, according to Doug Haller of AZCentral.com.

Lindsey was reportedly the top candidate to replace Todd Monken at Southern Miss, where he spent the past two seasons as the offensive coordinator before accepting the same job with the Sun Devils.

The salary bump will increase Lindsey's annual base figure to $650,000, just $50,000 less than what Monken made in base salary from the Golden Eagles as the head coach.

Southern Miss, meanwhile, continues to look for a head coach.
