Arizona's Nick Wilson unlikely to play in New Mexico Bowl

Casey Sapio / USA TODAY Sports

Arizona will likely be without leading rusher Nick Wilson when the Wildcats take on New Mexico in the New Mexico Bowl on Saturday.

Coach Rich Rodriguez revealed the news to reporters Tuesday, though he didn't disclose what would keep the running back out.

Wilson has battled several ailments this season, including injuries to his foot, knee, and arm. He rushed the ball just 18 times over Arizona's final six contests, three of which he sat out altogether.

If, in fact, Wilson misses the bowl game, he'll finish his sophomore campaign with 133 carries for 725 yards and eight touchdowns. Senior tailback Jared Baker would be in line to receive the bulk of the playing time in the backfield in Wilson's absence.
