Texas' Jerrod Heard suffered head injury in loss to Texas Tech

Texas quarterback Jerrod Heard left and did not return in Thursday's game versus Texas Tech after suffering a head injury in the second quarter.

Backup quarterback Tyrone Swoopes ran the huddle for the Longhorns for the remainder of the game and went 9-for-18 for 52 yards and one interception. Swoopes did, however, add 98 yards and two touchdowns in the running game.

Heard entered action Thursday with 1,202 passing yards, five touchdowns, and five interceptions, along with 557 yards rushing and three touchdowns on the season. He was 2-of-5 for 12 yards through the air when he exited the game.

Meanwhile, Texas also lost starting linebacker Peter Jinkens to an apparent knee injury and running back Kirk Johnson to an leg injury in the first half. The Longhorns have dealt with injuries to several other key players.
