Report: Boston College's Wade expected to miss season with broken ankle

Bob DeChiara / USA TODAY Sports

Boston College sophomore quarterback Darius Wade is expected to miss the remainder of the season with a broken left ankle, according to Pete Thamel of Sports Illustrated.

Wade was injured during Friday's 14-0 loss to Florida State. Wade was sacked by the Seminoles' Nile Lawrence-Stample, and was slow to get up. He was assisted off the field by two members of the training staff.

Wade is expected to have surgery at some point this weekend and be out three months, according to Thamel.

True freshman Jeff Smith is in line to take the reins from Wade. The Eagles' third-string quarterback is Troy Flutie, the nephew of school legend and ex-NFL quarterback Doug Flutie.
