When the Fighting Irish and the Midshipmen face off in 2016, it will be on neutral ground.

The Jacksonville Sports Council announced Wednesday that Notre Dame will play Navy on Nov. 5, 2016 in Jacksonville, Fla., at EverBank Field, the home of the NFL's Jacksonville Jaguars.

News of the neutral-site game was first reported by News 4 Jacksonville's Sam Kouvaris.

"I would like to thank Athletic Director Chet Gladchuk and the Naval Academy for entrusting us with the time honored tradition of the Navy-Notre Dame game," said Jacksonville Sports Council President and CEO Rick Catlett at the announcement.

The Orlando Sentinel notes that the Notre Dame-Navy series is the "longest continuous intersectional rivalry in college football."

The Fighting Irish, who will host the Midshipmen on Oct. 10 for their 89th meeting, lead the all-time series 75-12-1.
