Report: Delton Williams could return to Michigan State as early as July
Suspended running back Delton Williams is expected to return to the Michigan State football program as early as this month for voluntary summer workouts, according to Mike Griffith of MLive.com.
Williams was suspended in March after being arrested on a misdemeanor charge of brandishing a firearm in public, and records show that he has not been enrolled at the school since the end of the spring semester.
Head coach Mark Dantonio has not provided an update on Williams' status since the suspension, and the tailback has yet to be added to the Spartans' roster.
Williams, who had a permit for the firearm, pleaded guilty to a reduced weapons charge in April. As part of a delayed sentence agreement, Williams' plea may be withdrawn and the case dismissed on Dec. 18, provided there are no additional violations.
Williams appeared in 13 games for the Spartans last season, rushing for 316 yards and five touchdowns on 54 carries.
