Iowa State recruit accidentally shot himself in hand

Iowa State signee Sheldon Croney suffered an accidental self-inflicted gunshot wound to his left hand Tuesday, according to a press release from the Bakersfield (Calif.) Police Department obtained by The Des Moines Register.

According to the police report, Croney was with two friends when they found a handgun belong to the father of one of the friends. Croney accidentally discharged the weapon, striking himself in the left hand.

A three-star running back, Croney is a member of the Cyclones' class of 2015. With the team thin at running back, Croney could be called upon to play a big role as a freshman.
