Michigan cancels Coke-for-tickets promotion after miscommunication

Some Michigan fans got an amazing deal on football tickets thanks to a promotion Coca-Cola was running on Monday, but it was quickly cancelled once school officials were made aware.

Per Brett McMurphy of ESPN, fans would get two complimentary tickets to Saturday's game against Minnesota with the purchase of two Coca-Cola products. The tickets had with a face value of $150, while the Coke came in at about $3. Some fans even took to Twitter to brag about their windfall:

"Coke is a great partner of ours and had purchased a limited block of tickets for the Minnesota game for a Coke retail activation aimed at Michigan students," a Michigan spokesperson told McMurphy. "Due to a miscommunication in the approval process, this promotion should not have run as-is."

Coca-Cola was supposed to get approval to run the promotion, but that approval was never granted by Michigan, thus the cancellation. Still, at least a few students out there got themselves a truly incredible deal.
