Jim Mora won't give straight answer about Brett Hundley’s status for ASU game

Nothing is ever simple with UCLA head coach Jim Mora.

Usually when a quarterback suits up for practice in full gear, it's an indication that he might play, or at the very least has the potential to see the field.

On Wednesday, the Los Angeles Times reported that injured Bruins quarterback Brett Hundley did just that. Media weren't granted access to practice, but Mora made himself available afterwards, providing obscure answers to questions regarding his starting pivot's status.

“No,” the head coach said when asked about the the injury, according to CollegeFootballTalk. “They work every day with the medical staff to get back out there as quick as they can and when they’re ready to go they put them back out there and they’re ready to go. So, that’s about it.”

In Hundley's absence, Jerry Neuheisel was given the chance of a lifetime last Saturday when he helped the Bruins barely avoid an upset loss to unranked Texas.

One would assume Neuheisel will be the QB called upon should Hundley be unable to play Sept. 25 at Arizona State. But that won't necessarily be the case, Mora said.

“Just because Jerry went in that game doesn’t mean that’s our backup quarterback,” the coach said. “We’ve never determined who’s No. 2, 3, 4. We’ve got a whole bunch of guys. Next time someone has to go in, it could be Asiantii (Woulard). Heck, Asiantii might start the Arizona State game. Who knows?”
