Clemson's Vic Beasley 'better player' than No. 1 pick Jadeveon Clowney

Clemson defensive end Vic Beasley wants to shut down any comparisons the media might draw between him and former South Carolina defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, the top overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.

"I feel like I'm the better player," Beasley told Sports Illustrated

Beasley registered 23 sacks over the last three years, so he is on track to surpass Clowney's college career total of 24. Beasley’s speed rush has launched him into the ranks of Clemson’s all-time greats; he's within a few sacks of breaking the school’s career record of 28 shared by Michael Dean Perry and Gaines Adams.

Beasley has an opportunity to shine Saturday when Clemson travels to No. 1 Florida State. Although the Seminoles present a formidable challenge for the Tigers, Beasley is not worried.

“I feel like I’ve got the best first step in college football,” he said.
