Wisconsin's Vonte Jackson forced to end career due to knee issues

A series of knee injuries have forced Wisconsin safety Vonte Jackson to put an early end to his career, per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

As a senior in high school, Jackson tore the ACL in his left knee and just a year later he tore the ACL in his right knee. He was attempting to work his way back to the Badgers this season from the latest setback, but he suffered another injury to the surgically repaired knee in early August and had not practiced since.

"It looks like Vonte is going to have to take medical [aid] unfortunately," head coach Gary Andersen said. "But he is in a good spot [mentally]. We've discussed it. We've spent time together. His family is on board. Everybody knows it is the best thing."

Due to a shortage of healthy running backs, Jackson was moved back to his former position for one day and that is when he reinjured the knee.

"I feel bad about it," Andersen said. "But I feel good that he can move on in life now. He can close that chapter and go on."

Because of the injuries, Jackson - a four-star recruit out of high school in 2012 - was never able to play in a game for the Badgers.
