Louisville's Petrino: Report of feud with Grantham is 'laughable'

Louisville head football coach Bobby Petrino and defensive coordinator Todd Grantham are both dismissing a report from earlier this week that the two are feuding.

Sports Illustrated reported the coaches have clashed repeatedly since their hirings in January, alleging that Petrino feels "stuck" with Grantham because of the coordinator's five-year contract worth close to $5 million.

Grantham told FootballScoop on Monday that he heard about the report and "laughed it off," saying no one from SI reached out to him for comment (audio here).

Petrino responded on Tuesday night.

"Like Todd said, it's kind of laughable," Petrino said. "I have the utmost respect for Todd. I think he's an expert at everything he does on defense. It's great having him here because of his intensity, his knowledge, and with me being able to work on offense and him run the entire defense."

Petrino said he and Grantham work well together.

"We have a great relationship. We have the utmost respect for each other. We're having a really good time in camp and I see our players getting better and smarter on defense every day."
