Michigan's Wilton Speight: Atop depth chart despite spring game struggles

Coach Jim Harbaugh said that Speight is still atop the team's quarterback depth chart coming out of spring practice, Mark Snyder of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Analysis:

Speight reportedly had a shaky outing in Saturday's spring game while redshirt freshman Brandon Peters showed flashes of what made him a highly touted recruit. Harbaugh affirmed that Speight is still the starter going into summer, but he added that he looks at the quarterback position as a "meritocracy." With that, it sounds as though Speight will need to get things turned around in fall camp in order to stave off Peters and remain as Michigan's starter.
