Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield addressed his weekend arrest in Arkansas on Tuesday in a lengthy apology posted to his Twitter account.

"With a heavy heart and many more emotions than just one ... I sincerely apologize for my actions early Saturday morning on February 25th," Mayfield wrote.

Mayfield was arrested for public intoxication, disorderly conduct, fleeing, and resisting arrest. He was tackled to the ground by police and finally handcuffed after his efforts to resist.

The Sooners have yet to publicly address the arrest, saying only that they were gathering details about the incident when the news broke.

"To all of the parents of kids that look up to me and consider me as a role model, I am sorry I was not the example I should be for your children," Mayfield said. "This will forever be a lesson for me and let it be for young kids everywhere as well. We are all human and mistakes happen, they are a part of growing up and learning."

The star senior also asked for forgiveness from his family, friends, and university, and vowed to earn back whatever respect he's lost from anyone he's affected.

Mayfield threw for nearly 4,000 yards and 40 touchdowns in 2016.
