Oklahoma jumps to No. 7 in final CFP rankings

Kevin Jairaj / USA TODAY Sports

The top six teams in the CFP were released earlier on Sunday, with Alabama, Clemson, Ohio State, and Washington leading the way as the four teams that'll play in the semifinals on New Year's Eve.

Penn State and Michigan rounded out the top six, clinching bids in the Rose Bowl and Orange Bowl, respectively.

While the playoff teams were of the most importance, the remainder of the top 25 is still significant for the schools involved.

Oklahoma's win over Oklahoma State saw the Sooners jump from No. 9 to No. 7, while USC moved past Colorado, despite the Buffaloes - not the Trojans - playing in the Pac-12 title game.

Penn State's win over Wisconsin meant the Badgers dropped from No. 6 to No. 8, and they will now face undefeated No. 15 Western Michigan in the Cotton Bowl.
