Oklahoma WR Westbrook leaves game after taking hard hit

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) Oklahoma star receiver Dede Westbrook has concussion-like symptoms, and it's uncertain if he will be able to play in the Sooners' bowl game in January.

Westbrook left Saturday's game for the Big 12 title midway through the second quarter after taking a hard hit from Oklahoma State safety Jordan Sterns.

Westbrook did not return, and after Oklahoma's victory coach Bob Stoops would not say how severe the injury was.

Westbrook, a finalist for the Biletnikoff Award for the nation's best receiver, ran across the middle for a pass from Baker Mayfield. Sterns hit him high, but not on the helmet, and separated Westbrook from the ball. The play did not draw a penalty, which set off a cascade of boos from the home fans. Westbrook stayed on the ground for several minutes before he got up.

Westbrook already had four catches for 111 yards when he left the game. Without him, the Sooners went on to win 38-20 and claim their 10th Big 12 title in 17 years under coach Bob Stoops.
